Virginia Thomas Biography and Full Profile

We are so happy that Brandeis University professor Anita Hill stood up for what is right and refuses to give an apology for to her. This week Hill received a call at her office of Brandeis University from a woman claiming to be Virgina Thomas, wife of Clarence Thomas. Hill reported the call to campus police thinking it was a prank. Well, assuredly it wasn’t for some odd reason. It has been stated that when Clarence Thomas came out with his 2007 book  called “My Grandfather’s Son”, he appeared on interviews with his wife and she suggested an apology then. Nonetheless, Virgina Thomas, wife of Clarence Thomas called Anita Hill this week with this request reported from ABC news:


“I just wanted to reach across the airwaves and the years and ask you to consider something,” Virginia Thomas said on Hill’s school voice mail. “I would love you to consider an apology sometime and some full explanation of why you did what you did with my husband. So give it some thought and certainly pray about this and come to understand why you did what you did. Okay have a good day.”

Virginia Thomas sent ABC news an email stating she extended Hill “an olive branch to her after all these years, in hopes that we could ultimately get passed (sic) what happened so long ago.”But Anita Hill is not dumb and yet a very intelligent woman. She stroke back stating she has no intention on issuing an apology of any kind:    “It was in no way conciliatory for her to begin with the presumption that I did something wrong in 1991. I simply testified to the truth of my experience,…For her to say otherwise is not extending an olive branch, it’s accusatory.”Virginia Thomas, wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, is retiring her title as head of Liberty Central, a conservative group with Tea Party ties that she launched earlier this year amid much scrutiny.

"She'll take a back seat so that Liberty Central can continue with its mission without any of the distractions," the group's spokeswoman Caitlin Carroll told the Washington Post Monday. "After discussing it with the board, Mrs. Thomas determined that it was best for the organization."

Apart from the distraction of having a wife of a Supreme Court justice aggressively tackling initiatives determined to beat back the agenda of Barack Obama -- whom she called a "tyrant" in a recent New York Times profile detailing the potential conflict of interest in her political activism and her husband's professional responsibility -- the financial backing of Thomas's group has also raised questions.

Funded primarily by two secret donors, whose identities were concealed by new practices set forth in the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision, Thomas's group was immediately injected with more than half-a-million dollars, which propelled it to the forefront of conservative activism, but not without significant concern that the anonymous status of Liberty Central's benefactors could potentially complicate future rulings by Justice Thomas.
 
All political controversy aside, Thomas also attracted attention last month when she contacted Anita Hill, the woman who accused Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment during his Supreme Court confirmation hearings, and asked her to apologize.

According to the Post, Liberty Central may be joining forces with the Patrick Henry Center, another conservative organization with a similar agenda.
